We are excited to announce that our first two publications coming out of our new lab have been accepted for publication!
Our paper
Rare Isotope-Containing Diamond Color Centers for Fundamental Symmetry Tests, Ian M. Morris, Kai Klink, Jaideep T. Singh, Jose L. Mendoza-Cortes, Shannon S. Nicley, Jonas N. Becker, arxiv2305.05781 (2023)
explores the possibility to use novel defects in diamond containing rare radioactive isotopes to search for atomic electric dipole moments. In the future, we hope to turn this DFT study into reality in collaboration with our collaborators at MSU's Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB). This work will appear in a special issue of RS Phil. Trans. A later this year.
The second paper titled
Transition Metal Ion Ensembles in Crystals as Solid-State Coherent Spin-Photon Interfaces: The Case of Nickel in Magnesium Oxide, E. Poem, S. Gupta, I. Morris, K. Klink, L. Singh, T. Zhong, S.S. Nicley, J.N. Becker, and O. Firstenberg, PRX Quantum 4, 030329 (2023)
studies Nickel dopants in magnesium oxide as a platform for quantum information processing and storage applications. This was a great collaboration with colleagues at the Weizmann Institute and the University of Chicago.
